People into Employment (PIE) Drop in to a New You!
at Café ETEC, Hudson House, 1 Moor Terrace, Hendon, Sunderland. SR1 2JH.
A project aimed at helping carers, ex-carers and people with disabilities hosts a drop-in session on Wednesday 24 February.
People into Employment (PIE) hosts an informal drop-in for clients and potential clients between 10am and noon.
The session gives clients the chance to tell support workers at PIE what they would like from the project.
Tracey Bramley, PIE Development Worker, said: “There is no need for an appointment – just turn up, have a coffee and a chat – and let us know how you would like to take these sessions forward!”
Monthly drop-in sessions also take place on:
• Wednesday 31 March 10am to noon
• Wednesday 28 April 10am to noon
• Wednesday 26 May 10am to noon
• Wednesday 30 June 10am to noon
Refreshments are free. Sessions take place at Café ETEC, Hudson House, 1 Moor Terrace, Hendon, Sunderland. SR1 2JH.
PIE offers support to carers, ex-carers and people with disability. The project helps clients to take the first steps into training and work.
Support is tailored to meet individual needs and can include training, vocational experience, voluntary work and employment.
PIE is part of ETEC development trust. ETEC is a charity specialises in providing high quality training and development.

‘Youth Networking Funding Event’ which is to be held at Hendon Young Peoples Project, Church Street, East End, Sunderland, SR1 2BB on Monday 8th March 2010 from 4pm – 6.30pm.
This event has been organised by Sunderland CVS and Sunderland Voluntary Youth Sector Forum in partnership with Hendon Young Peoples Project.

This event is only for groups who work with young people and there is a limit of two places per organisation. Young people are also encouraged to attend however they must be accompanied by a project worker. Booking forms should be returned by Monday 1st March 2010 to guarantee a place.

BT Community Connections is an award scheme which enables community and charitable organisations to get online. Groups can apply for a laptop and a year’s free broadband connection.
Award packages will be given to groups who can demonstrate how an award will benefit their work and the local community.
Any organisation, working in any field of community benefit, located anywhere within the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland can apply. In the past voluntary projects, silver-surfers, conservation organisations, family support groups, sports teams and youth groups have been successful.

People into Employment (PIE) will start the monthly drop-in sessions on Wednesday 27 January 2010.
The informal, drop-in sessions will give clients and potential clients the chance to tell support workers at PIE what they would like from the project.

The Personal Best Qualification - Jigsaw Training
Jigsaw Training have provision for 350 unemployed people aged 19+ within the Tyne & Wear area to participate in the project. The Personal Best qualification will be delivered by Jigsaw Training over a period of two years. The project will support skills development, work experience and progression into employment. All participants will be given the opportunity to achieve a Nationally recognised Level 1 City & Guilds Qualification in Event Volunteering including the opportunity to enhance their skills and development within volunteering.
We are now recruiting for our October courses in Newcastle & Sunderland. We have 20 places available on both programmes. There are no costs in relation to participating as all travel costs will be supported along with lunch requirements.
