Christmas TreeSunderland East Area Forum AGM and Christmas Celebration

The forum held its 1st AGM and Christmas Celebration on 3rd December 2009 at Grangetown Community Association.
The Event was extremely well attended by 59 people! I'm sure everyone who came along on the day will agree that the event was a resounding success, which made it an enjoyable time for all!

The Chair, Councillor Ross Wares welcomed those present to the AGM, commenting on the rapid growth of the forum, its many accomplishments over 2009, which have made it so successful and well attended.
Councillor Wares went on to express gratitude to all concerned in their continued support; to the many attendees, to those allowing the use of a venue, for the many fabulous presentations, to Sunderland Strategic Initiative Board (SIB) for the funding for a worker, to Sunderland CVS, to the Management Committee and all those that attend every month a big thank you.

Brownies fancy dressBrownies meet on Thursdays at 6pm– 8pm and can accommodate 8 more girls.

This year the Brownies have accomplished so much including fund raising by packing at Sainsburys, parents evenings, bingo & hot dog night, fancy dress, crafts including badge making, Brownie Magic, a weeks holiday away, a visit by the RAF went down a treat and the Sunderland Empire Pantomime was enjoyed by all.

.

Guides trip to France photoThe Guides meet on Tuesday from 6.45pm - 8.45pm and have space 12 more girls.

Fun has been the password for the guides this year!  The girls had great fun on a trip to France, which fired their enthusiasm to continue. They have entertained the Brownies with a puppet show, undertaken bag packs to help raise money for trips, enjoyed outings with other guides from St Andrews. They have had sleep overs together in St Andrews Church Hall and friendships have flourished between the 2 groups. Parents evenings have been very entertaining a. Other activities include crafts, games, and sing alongs. They planned and held, very successfully a Hollywood Masquerade Ball, with ball gowns and red carpet.

We hope to have as much success during the next year as it is Guide Centenary year, and many celebrations are being planned including a camp for Guides and older Brownies.
